Voudriez-vous, s’il vous plait, m’apprendre a\u0300 faire un \u201cFrench Kiss\u201d?<\/em><\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n

In my performance, I invited audience to teach me to do a \u201cFrench Kiss\u201d by making an announcement: Voudriez-vous, s’il vous plait, m’apprendre \u00e0 faire un “French Kiss”?<\/em> (can you please teach me to do a \u201cFrench Kiss\u201d?) in my broken French.\u00a0 The notions of cultural authenticity, exoticism and intimacy in public space were explored when audience joined my performance one by one with hesitation, anxiety and enjoyment.\u00a0 My French was spoken better and better after a few attempts, while my kissing skills were improved by different kissers.\u00a0 It was ironic that, at last, a Swedish artist ‘successfully’ taught me to do a French Kiss and I managed to speak the French sentence more smoothly after repeating again and again for a few times.<\/p>\n
